Precision Fit: The End of Hose Clamps

The SOSHH SF Internal Snap-On Steel Spigot is the foundational component of our hygienic powder handling system. Uniquely shaped to enable flexible polyurethane (PU) connectors to snap-fit entirely inside the pipe, it eliminates the traditional, imprecise nature of external hose clamps.

By seating the flexible sleeve internally, the SOSHH spigot creates a perfectly flush, crevice-free internal transition. This prevents product build-up, cross-contamination, and abrasive wear, ensuring strict compliance with FDA food-grade and ATEX explosion-proof safety standards.

Installation Instructions: Permanent Spigot Welding

Select the corresponding size of the steel spigot based on the outer diameter of your on-site equipment or piping, and proceed to weld both ends in sequence.

Step 01: Measure Outer Diameter (OD)

Accurately measure the exact outer diameter of your existing rigid pipe to select the matching SOSHH spigot size.

Step 02: Align & Weld First Spigot

Position the steel spigot coaxially over the pipe. Apply a full-perimeter TIG (Argon-arc) weld to ensure a secure, airtight seal. The 2mm wall thickness prevents burn-through.

Step 03: Weld Opposing Spigot

Align and weld the second spigot to the opposing pipe, paying close attention to the vertical alignment.

Step 04: Verify Installation Gap (IG)

Once welded, check that the correct Installation Gap is maintained between the two spigot heads. The system is now ready for the tool-free snap-in of the flexible PU sleeve.

Spigot Anatomy & The "Installation Gap"

A correct installation is critical for maximizing the life of the flexible connector. The SOSHH spigot is engineered with two distinct zones:

  • The Head (Locking Groove): The precision-rolled upper section where the PU sleeve’s snap-band locks into place.
  • The Tail (Weldable Section): The straight lower section designed to be welded to your existing pipework. The tail can be easily cut down on-site to suit restricted spaces.
  • Installation Gap (IG): The most important part of the welding process is enuring the exact vertical distance between the top and bottom spigots. A correct Installation Gap ensures the PU sleeve maintains the perfect amount of slack to absorb severe vibrational displacement.

Once the steel spigots are welded in place, installing or replacing the flexible PU sleeve takes only seconds. No screwdrivers, wrenches, or external clamps are required.

Installation Instructions: Tool-Free PU Sleeve Snap-In

Step 01: Compress the Snap-Band
integrated elastic snap-band... gently fold the ring into a C-shape for easy insertion.

Step 02: Seat the Lower Band
Insert the compressed band into the lower welded steel spigot. Release your grip, allowing the band's elastic memory to snap it firmly into the internal locking groove.

Step 03: Seat the Upper Band
Repeat the exact same folding process for the top snap-band. Push it upward into the internal groove of the upper steel spigot and release.

Step 04: Perfect Hygienic Seal
The flexible sleeve is now fully installed. The outward radial tension of the snap-bands ensures a 100% dust-tight, flush, and crevice-free seal that resists high vibration and pressure.
