Polyether TPU provides roughly 10 times the abrasion resistance of rubber, measured at 39.0 mg wear per DIN abrasion test, with tensile strength of 35–45 MPa. This is why SOSHH specifies polyether TPU for abrasive powder transfer on vibratory sifters, screw conveyors and rotary valves. In contrast, silicone is rated poor for abrasion and is reserved for non-abrasive hot-air duty, while PTFE is specified for chemical resistance rather than abrasive wear. For high-wear service, select the standard PU10 grade or request a 1.5 mm wall option.
