SOSHH Technical Bulletin: Polymer-Reinforced Flexible Connectors (100% Tool-Free & Metal Detector Safe)

Engineering schematic of SOSHH PU-10-VR polymer-reinforced flexible connector with external HF-welded pockets and tool-free snap-in cuff.

Background & Structural Limitations of Conventional Assemblies

In industrial powder transfer and vibratory sifting processes, standard flexible sleeves utilizing internal encapsulated stainless steel rings or rigid mechanical grounding elements present three major operating risks:

  • Metal Fatigue & Wall Puncture: Continuous high-frequency oscillation (1440+ rpm) subjects metallic ring weld points to flexural fatigue, frequently causing sharp fracture points that puncture sleeve walls.
  • Inline Quality Inspection Tripping: Internal metallic components generate electromagnetic interference, triggering false rejections across inline industrial metal detectors and X-ray sorting systems.
  • Complex Maintenance & Gasket Abrasion: Connector variants requiring external pry levers or spigots with notched release slots often lead to scratched sealing faces and mechanical deformation during routine sanitation.

Proprietary Engineering Breakthroughs &  original engineering Architecture

To establish an open-architecture, maintenance-free standard, SOSHH has deployed a fully non-metallic, modular structural layout across our PU-10-VR series and PU-10-AS ATEX series

Engineered Polymer Reinforcement Rings (POM / High-Shore TPU)

Internal metallic rings are eliminated and superseded by solid, fatigue-resistant engineering polyoxymethylene (POM) rings. This provides continuous elastic spring-back, withstanding differential negative pressures down to -1000 mbar without flow-channel constriction, a standard feature in our vacuum-rated flexible connectors

HF-Welded External Encasement Pockets

Rather than in-mold internal overmolding, polymer rings are housed in dedicated annular pockets formed on the sleeve's exterior surface via precision industrial high-frequency (HF) welding. The primary product-contact bore remains 100% monolithic and free of crevices, meeting stringent sanitary bulk material handling requirements

100% Tool-Free Manual Snap Assembly

The retaining cuffs integrate standard rectangular-section spring steel bands. Installation and extraction are accomplished by manual radial compression within 10 seconds—entirely independent of screwdrivers, pry tools, or spigot release slots.

Interface Compatibility & Legal Notice

SOSHH snap-in connectors are independently engineered for direct dimensional compatibility with industry-standard internal-grooved sanitary spigots. All designs rely strictly on public-domain radial expansion geometry, material-science static control, and visible high-frequency seam construction.
